(중1 Unit 18 복습) must와 have to는 '~해야 한다', should는 '~하는 게 좋겠다'이고 뒤에 동사원형이 온다. have to는 시제에 따라 바꿔 쓴다. 미래는 will have to(~해야 할 것이다), 과거는 had to(~해야 했다)이다(must는 과거·미래형이 없다). 3인칭 단수 현재는 has to이고, 의문문은 Does + 주어 + have to ~?

Mia has to charge her robot before the contest. Mia
Ben had to carry the heavy microscope upstairs yesterday. Ben
Does Jun have to clean Bori's cage today?   Yes, he does.
주의 She have to / He has to went / will must ✗ → She has to / He had to go / will have to ○

2don't have to(불필요)와 must not(금지) 시험 단골

표현
뜻
예
must not
금지
Visitors must not feed the ducks in this park.
don't have to
불필요
~할 필요가 없다 (= don't need to)

주의 규칙·위험이 있으면 must not, 안 해도 괜찮으면 don't have to. 과거의 불필요는 didn't have to이다.

Your phone is almost dead. You'd better charge it before the trip.
Bori is asleep. You had better not wake him up.
주의 had not better / had better to go / had better went ✗ → had better not go / had better go ○

반복 행동: used to, would 둘 다
go, visit, play, read, walk (+ every ~, often)
상태: used to만 (would ✗)
be, have, like, live, know
In Canada, Emma used to 〔would〕 skate on a frozen lake every winter.
Mr. Oh used to have long hair in college. 상태   Mr. Oh would have long hair ✗
주의 used to playing / used to played ✗ → used to play ○

would like + 명사는 '~을 원하다'(want의 공손한 말), would like to + 동사원형은 '~하고 싶다'이다. I'd like. Would you like (to) ~?

I'd like to sign up for the cooking class this year.
A: Would you like to see my science project?   B: Yes, I'd love to. 〔Sure.〕
A: Would you like a cup of warm tea?   B: No, thanks. I'm fine.
주의 I'd like go / I'd like going ✗ → I'd like to go ○. Would you like ~?에 Yes, I do. / Yes, I like.

would의 세 가지 쓰임

Grandpa would tell us ghost stories on summer nights. (과거의 반복: ~하곤 했다) / I would like a bigger desk. (원함) / Would you like to hold Tori?
상태는 would ✗: Tori used to be very shy. 〔Tori would be very shy.〕
