1개념 정리

1조동사가 있는 수동태: 조동사 + be + p.p. 시험 단골

(중2 Unit 10 복습) 조동사 뒤에는 원형이 오므로 수동태는 조동사 + be + p.p.이다. have to, be going to, ought to도 같다. 특히 have to는 새 주어에 맞춰 has to / have to로 쓴다.

You have to wash this cap by hand. → This cap has to be washed by hand.
Ms. Han will unlock the pool at six. → The pool will be unlocked at six.

주의 must ~~cleaned~~ / must be ~~clean~~ / This cap ~~have to~~ be washed. ✗ be를 빼지 않고, have to는 주어의 수에 맞춘다.

2조동사 수동태의 부정문과 의문문 시험 단골

부정은 조동사 + not + be + p.p., have to는 don't〔doesn't〕 have to be p.p.이다. 의문문은 조동사 + 주어 + be + p.p. ~?, 행위자를 물을 때는 By whom + 조동사 + 주어 + be + p.p.? (= Who + 조동사 + 주어 + be + p.p. by?)

Food must not be eaten in the lab. 먹으면 안 된다
Your homework doesn't have to be typed. 타자로 치지 않아도 된다
Can these shoes be washed in a machine? / By whom will the winners be chosen?

주의 ~~Will be the winners chosen?~~ / ~~Can these shoes washed?~~ ✗ be는 주어 뒤에 둔다.

3진행형 수동태 be being p.p. / 완료형 수동태 have been p.p. 혼동 주의

'(지금·그때) ~되고 있다'는 be동사 + being + p.p., '~되었다(지금까지)'는 have/has + been + p.p., 과거의 어느 때까지는 had been p.p.이다. 단서: now, at the moment → 진행 / already, just, since, for, so far → 완료 / yesterday, ago → 과거

The lab was being cleaned when Ms. Kang came in. 청소되고 있었다
Jiho's new song has been played on the radio three times. 세 번 방송되었다

주의 is ~~been~~ washed / The shoes ~~are washing~~. / has ~~sold~~ / has been ~~sell~~ ✗ being·been을 빼면 능동이 되어 뜻이 틀린다.

4구동사의 수동태: 한 덩어리로 옮긴다 혼동 주의

동사 + 전치사·부사로 된 구동사는 한 단어처럼 움직인다. 수동태에서도 전치사·부사를 그대로 두고 그 뒤에 by를 쓴다.

주의 was ~~laughed by~~ → was laughed at by / should be ~~looked by me after~~ → looked after by me 전치사·부사는 by 앞에 둔다.

5It is said that ~ / 주어 + be said to + 동사원형 심화

People〔They〕 say that ~은 두 가지로 바꾼다. ① It is said that ~: that절은 그대로 둔다. ② that절의 주어 + be said to + 동사원형: be동사는 새 주어에 맞춘다. think, believe, know도 같다.

People say that Coco dances to music.
→ It is said that Coco dances to music. → Coco is said to dance to music.

주의 ~~Coco is said that~~ ~ / ~~It is said to~~ ~ ✗ 시제가 다른 to have p.p.는 Unit 7에서 배운다.

6수동태로 쓰지 않는 동사

목적어가 없는 동사

happen, occur, appear, disappear, arrive, seem

상태·소유를 나타내는 동사

have (가지다), resemble, belong to

~~was happened~~ → happened, ~~is resembled~~ → resembles

must not be p.p. vs don't have to be p.p.

The door must not be opened. 열면 안 된다 (금지)
The door doesn't have to be locked. 잠그지 않아도 된다 (불필요)
The pool is being cleaned. 청소되고 있다 / The pool has been cleaned. 청소되었다
